Elon Musk confirms he will step down as Twitter CEO when he finds a replacement

The owner of the social network asked his users in a survey if he should continue in the position and they voted no

At the end of one of the most hectic days, which is to say, of his first two months at the helm of Twitter, Elon Musk, who bought the company in October for 44,000 million dollars, wrote the following message on the net last Sunday social: “As the saying goes, be careful what you wish for because you might get it”.

Users of the social network wanted him to resign as CEO and that is exactly what it seems they have achieved, although with the guy you never know.

As he announced in a tweet this Tuesday night on the East Coast, his favorite time slot to launch information bombs, Musk is willing to leave the post.

He will "as soon as he finds someone stupid enough to take the job."

"After that, I'll only rule over the software

teams.

and [technological] servers.”

Musk thus fulfilled his promise to "accept the results" of a survey launched among his more than 122 million followers that Sunday, which happened in Qatar in the World Cup final.

In it he asked: "Should I resign as head of Twitter?"

17,503,391 people voted.

59% did so in favor of his resignation.

Then things came to an impasse.

On Monday she went off promoting the achievements of two other pretty girls of hers: electric car maker Tesla and space aeronautics SpaceX.

She also aired the findings of the Twitter Files series of leaks, internal company documents on how it handled the scandals involving Hunter Biden, son of President Joe Biden, stemming from his business abroad.

Finally, on Tuesday, the day some US media reported on his "active search" for an executive capable of succeeding him and he scoffed at this information, he spoke about the

elephant in the room:

he had asked his clients if they wanted him at the head of the company or not and these had been clear.

One of the phrases most used by Musk during these first weeks says: "Vox populi, vox Dei."

The pedantic expression in Latin (which can be translated as "the voice of the people is the voice of God") has served him to introduce, since his acquisition of Twitter on October 27, the polls he has been using to make far-reaching decisions about corporate management.

The most notorious occasion was when he reinstated former US President Donald Trump, suspended for inciting violence during the assault on the Capitol on January 6, 2021 (he declined the invitation, as he has his own social network to promote, Truth).

He also asked when the journalists expelled a week ago and without warning for reporting on an account called @ElonJet, which tracked the flights of his private jet, should return.

There the options were: immediately or in seven days.

That decision caused an angry global reaction from organizations such as the UN or the European Union, as well as associations in defense of press freedom.
