A 22-year-old man, a footballer in Aubagne, was shot dead on Friday evening in the 14th arrondissement of Marseille (Bouches-du-Rhône), police sources said, confirming information from the regional daily La Provence.
The young man was hit by two bullets, in the pelvis and the flank, near the HLM Méditerranée, these sources confirmed.
The death was pronounced at 11:40 p.m., more than half an hour after the intervention of the emergency services.
The victim was not known to the police or justice services for narcotics, Marseille prosecutor Dominique Laurens told AFP.
“He will leave a great void”
According to La Provence, the victim is Adel Santana Mendy, player of the Aubagne football club, in National 2, trained at Olympique de Marseille.
“He will leave a great void and will forever remain one of us,” the club reacted on Facebook.

The judicial police have been seized of the investigation.
