Once again it's time to say goodbye: to car models that have been phased out this year or whose imminent end has been announced.

For some, this happened suddenly and unexpectedly.

The electrification of the car industry, economic pressure and changing customer tastes are shaking up the model ranges of many car brands.

Many a car that has been part of the street scene for decades is being phased out without a successor - and sometimes quite surprisingly so.

Like the Ford Fiesta: After 47 years and eight generations, its imminent end was announced this year, the three-door Fiesta variant is already history.

Since 1976, the small car has found 18.2 million buyers.

The electric BMW i3, on the other hand, was only granted one generation, and since 2013 it has had 250,000 buyers.

The end of production was actually announced for 2024, but BMW preferred it.

Despite upgrading the battery, the range was no longer competitive.

Other small Stromers now offer more range and comfort than the i3, which was last offered for around 40,000 euros.

Instead of lightweight small cars, there are now only significantly more expensive offers for customers such as the BMW iX1, but the electric Mini is also an alternative.

The electric version of the Hyundai Ioniq also found fewer and fewer buyers.

For this, as for both hybrid variants, the last hour struck.

The Stromer had come under pressure in the face of growing competition - with the modern Ioniq 5 also from its own company

Bye: no more future for compact and large vans

Vans are also finding fewer and fewer buyers, and they are hardly able to buck the SUV trend.

This year, the BMW 2 Series Gran Tourer, the Citroën C4 Space Tourer and the Renault Scénic and Grand Scénic bid farewell.

The low-cost Dacia Lodgy model was also shelved.

As an alternative, Dacia has the station wagon crossover Jogger on offer.

MPVs are also suffering from falling appreciation.

As a result, Renault even took the classic Espace off the market.

It has existed for five generations since 1984 and was once considered a trendsetter.

Mid-size sedans are also finding fewer and fewer friends.

Ford stopped the Mondeo as part of its realignment, and Renault pulled the ripcord on the Talisman.

The Mazda CX-3 shows that SUVs are also disappearing from the market.

The 4.28-metre-long mini-SUV was based on the Mazda 2 small car and has meanwhile become number two in the Mazda portfolio since the start of production in 2015.

It didn't help him.
