The series "Carthage", which is broadcast on Han 11 and tells the story of Etzel and Lehi fighters who were deported to the Carthage detention camp in Sudan at the beginning of the British mandate, succeeded in angering the members of the families of the underground fighters who stayed in the camp and claimed that the events shown in the series - created by Rashef Levy, Levi and Tomer Shani - distort history and are not faithful to reality.
It was reported in "Yediot Ahronoth" that the sons and daughters of the underground fighters held a meeting, where they decided to demand that the Public Broadcasting Corporation remove from the series and from all publications about it the caption according to which it is a series "telling a true story", and add a caption clarifying to viewers that it is based on a drama created by the creators' imagination .
Among others, former ministers Dan Meridor and Limor Livnet, former Air Force Commander Major General Ido Nehushtan, former Director General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Attorney Aharon Abramowitz, Attorney Ram Shamgar and the Sons and Daughters of Carthage Arrested Committee were present at the meeting.

For example, the late Meir Shamgar, who served as president of the Supreme Court, was an IDF fighter exiled by the British to camps in Africa. His son, Ram Shamgar, claimed at the meeting: "The underground fighters paid a very heavy price, and in this series they are mocked.
Viewers get a distorted picture.
It hurts that this is how they will be remembered."
In response, Khan 11 and the production of the series announced that they would make changes to the opening slide of the series: "The series 'Carthage' is a drama series, which was inspired by the events in the concentration camps in Africa.
It is not a documentary series and does not pretend to be a binding historical document.
We will clarify this further in the update of the slide at the beginning of the series.
We are proud of the series and the historical and artistic discussion it brings and are proud of the creative freedom given to its creators."
The historical-comedy series was critically acclaimed, but critics also had some reservations.
Visitor and voila!
Tarbut Nadav Menuhin, for example, had reservations about the inaccuracies in the historical details.
In response to the question of where the line is drawn between loyalty and reality and absolute inventions, Rashef Levy said to Walla!
Culture: "The series 'Carthage' is based on real historical events - but we, its creators, invented an alternative history and allowed ourselves to go to a place where it would be fun for the audience to meet us. A place that takes place in a cinematic universe that is heavily influenced by the Coen brothers, Billy Wilder and Tel Aviv-based Israeli director Quentin Tarantino. The latter He did it before us brilliantly in 'Bastards Without Honor' and 'Django Unstoppable.' It is not for history, but for an audience that wants to experience a series that will blow their minds,
