A year after the electric Niro, Kia is launching another electric country, an interesting and more expensive crossover, pre-built to compete with the Tesla Model 3 and Model Y.

Unlike the Niro, which is also offered in gasoline and plug-in versions, the EV6 is produced in South Korea only in an electric version.

In fact, the EV6 shares a chassis, engines and other components with the Hyundai Ioniq 5 and with the Korean manufacturer's luxury division version of the model, the GV60.

The Kia is closer to the Genesis, and has received a lighter platform, it is lower and its driving range is longer.

However, it rests on a shorter wheelbase.

Dimensions:

The length of the five-door body in the base model is 4.68 meters, the width is 1.88 meters and the height is 1.55 meters.

The wheelbase extends to 2.90 meters and the weight reaches 1.985 tons.

The rear trunk has a volume of 520 liters, and the front 52 liters in the basic version and 20 liters in the powerful version.

Engines and performance:

like the Ionique 5, the EV6 also comes in two drive versions.

The basic has rear-wheel drive, 229 hp, a 77 kWh battery, it needs 7.3 seconds to accelerate from standstill to 100 km/h and reaches a maximum speed of 188 km/h.

The official combined driving range is 528 km. The Hezka has dual drive and an additional engine that also supplies power to the rear axle and increases the combined power to 325 hp, which shortens the acceleration to 100 km/h to 5.2 seconds. The speed The maximum is the same and the range is shortened to 484 km.

Equipment:

the premium comes with light 19-inch rims, a pair of 12.3-inch screens, one for multimedia and operation and the other a dashboard, electric driver's seats, an electric sun window, wireless charging for mobile phones, and more.

The powerful GT-Line upgrades to 20-inch rims, adds an electric passenger seat, heating for all seats and front ventilation, heated steering wheel, electric tailgate and leather-like upholstery instead of cloth and leather.

Safety:

The EV6 received 5 out of 5 stars in the updated European crash test.

All versions come with autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane keeping, blind spot detection and collision prevention in case the driver ignores the warning, emergency braking in reverse, and motion sensors to identify a child or animal left in the vehicle.

GT-Line also has a camera display in the blind spot when signaling.

Warranty:

The vehicle comes with a general warranty for three years with no km limit, and with a warranty for seven years or 150 thousand km for the battery.

Prices:

The base version will be sold for NIS 249,000, and the double drive for NIS 299,000.

These are more expensive prices than the Ionic 5, but it still comes with only a 72 kWh battery. The price refers to about 200 cars already in stock, cars arriving in 2023 will be more expensive, it is not yet clear by what gap, depending on the taxation changes.

Competitors:

The EV6 is more expensive than the Tesla Model 3 and the Mazda Aniac, but significantly cheaper than the Model Y. Despite the popular brand, it may also wink at steering wheel enthusiasts from the luxury market, and also compete with the more expensive Audi Q4 Itron and BMW iX1.

Additional versions:

the EV6 is also offered in the world in a GT version with 585 hp and dual drive that shortens the acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.5 seconds, and in a discounted base version with a 53 kWh battery and a 170 hp engine and rear wheel drive.

The first may arrive in the second half of 2023, the second is still unclear.

And what did we think of the competitors?
