Users of the navigation app Waze (Wiz) on Reddit recently claim that one of the navigation guidance voices, "Jane", suddenly changes her mood,

sometimes spouting instructions in a scary tone

- and then returning to the default tone.

According to one of the users, this happens mainly on the iPhone and Apple's CarPlay.

Another user says the disturbing voice startled his wife.

No complaints have been received about Wiz's other "voices", but one of the respondents to the PhoneArena report claims that this happens with other prompting voices, and not only at Apple.

But Google (which recently merged Wiz with its global maps teams) was quick to fix the odd bug that caused users to miss a beat.

In the 4.90 update for the iPhone, it is evident that one of the programmers worked with "Jane" to improve her mood - so that the voice does not suddenly sound scary.

To check if your Wiz is up to date, open the settings (gear icon), scroll down to "About", and there you can see the version number at the top of the page.

If you are on version 4.90 or higher, don't worry that "Jane" will scare you for nothing.
