Citroen C5 X, grand routier DNA for third millennium families
A tradition of technological creativity, attention to the needs of the driver and passengers and an extraordinary ability to innovate which - year after year, evolution after evolution - has now taken shape in the C5 X, the new flagship that renews the large road racing segment.
It does so with an original design which is, according to the House of the Double Chevron, a perfect and functional synthesis between sedan and station wagon, an innovative proposal in the purest tradition of the great Citroën automobiles.
Available with the PureTech 130 S&S EAT8 engine and with the 225 HP plug-in hybrid engine, it expresses modernity, status and innovation, to consistently meet the expectations of customers in this segment as well as those coming from the SUV segment.
The C5 X's design is strong, robust and empowering.
It is immediately striking because it innovates the D segment codes with a decisive silhouette.
The large tailgate, to offer the functionality of a wagon in a sedan, combines with design elements typical of SUVs to give rise to a completely new and bold shape, with particular attention to aerodynamics and - at the time itself - to the spaciousness of the cabin.
Long bonnet, flowing and aerodynamic lines, high waistline and large wheels give Citroën C5 X importance, status and dynamism.
We recognize elements that recall some models that have marked the history of the Double Chevron flagships, however reinterpreted according to the canons of contemporaneity.
Tall and well planted on the road, thanks to the large diameter 720 mm wheels with 19-inch tires and the greater ground clearance compared to a traditional Citroën C5 X wagon, it allows a driving position overlooking the road and traffic, for greater safety and visibility.
Depending on the wheelbase of 2,785 mm - which is reflected in the excellent roominess also for the rear passengers - the C5 X has generous external dimensions, with a length of 4,805 mm, a width of 1,865 mm and a height of 1,485 mm, values which place it at the heart of the D segment. C5 X innovates - as did its ancestors grandes routieres - the way of travelling.
This time with the introduction, as a world premiere, of the Citroën Advanced Comfort active suspension which enhances the impression of moving on a flying carpet,
a sensation intimately linked to the history of the brand.
The C5 X also offers a lounge-style interior space that offers the comfort of seats combined with unparalleled roominess, especially in the second row.
In the plug-in hybrid version, with the ë-Comfort that derives from being able to move in electric mode in everyday life, the C5 X further amplifies the feeling of serenity on board.
Well-being that also derives from cutting-edge technologies that simplify the use of the C5 X, such as the Extended Head Up Display and a series of aids (Adas) that improve the driver's driving serenity such as the Highway Driver Assist, or the new infotainment system with 12-inch HD touchpad, Natural Voice Recognition and a customizable display via widgets, just like on a tablet.
