A small car driver used the track bed of a tram as a car lane - and triggered a large-scale operation by the fire brigade.

Many a driver looks enviously at the tram in the dense hustle and bustle of the city.

She often has her own lane that is always clear, gets the green light switched on and can bring other road users who are disturbing her to their senses with a nasty, shrill bell.

Who doesn't want to swap sometimes?

Fiat driver follows tracks - and gets stuck in the railway tunnel

It is not known whether a Fiat driver in Ludwigshafen really planned to switch to the tram lane, or misinterpreted her navigation system (which always leads to strange incidents), or simply wasn't paying attention.

But the consequences of their act: After their Fiat 500 had rumbled a good 250 meters along the tracks over the gravel of the track bed, the small car got into a tram tunnel.

The ten ugliest cars of all time: how did they go into production?

The small car then stopped at the underground stop LU Rathaus.

Six vehicles from the Ludwigshafen fire brigade then arrived, and 17 emergency services supported the transport company with extensive technical equipment.

The Fiat was “lifted from the track bed by means of lifting tools, secured and placed on the lorries provided by the transport company” in a way that was gentle on the rails, according to the report from the fire brigade, “a towing vehicle then pulled the car back to Ludwigstrasse”.

The good news: "During the five-hour operation, everyone involved, including the driver, was unharmed." But probably not the nerves of tram drivers and passengers whose route was blocked.

They probably looked enviously at the drivers.
