Kia ProCeed GT 1.6 in the test: sports suit lets it rip powerful

No hybrid, but two turbochargers and a powerful sound: the Kia ProCeed GT convinces as an old-school shooting brake.
Without a doubt, the Hyundai-Kia Group is one of the key drivers of electric mobility. In this area, the South Koreans have left all Japanese competitors far behind (Toyota, for example, is currently having to reorganize its electric strategy).
With all the chic electric cars and plug-in hybrids, you almost forget that Kia, for example, also has solid combustion engines in its range that work according to the motto "turbo instead of electric".

The newly revised Kia ProcCeed is the best example of this: a sports station wagon, also known in modern German as a shooting brake, with a coupé-like sloping roof line and, in the top GT version, a 204 hp four-cylinder twin-turbo engine.
Since the facelift, it has been chic with a frameless front grille in the typical Kia design, and the GT shows a cheeky, bright red line on the indicated running boards just above the asphalt.

There is no master of understatement here, but one who wants to draw attention to himself.
What becomes even clearer when you press the start button: the exhaust system emits a powerful, robust sound that has become rare in modern cars.
If you plan to sneak out of the residential area quietly in the morning, Kia has other cars in its range.
Kia ProCeed GT 1.6 in the test: combustion engines for those who hate electric cars
With the ProCeed GT it's all about being seen and heard.
A combustion engine for all those who despise silent electric driving, and thus a very interesting alternative to the Stromer brigade, which is currently moving into the Kia model portfolio.
When accelerating to country road speed, when overtaking and on the motorway slip road (this is how you behave here correctly), the four-cylinder roars powerfully, while the dual-clutch transmission quickly shifts gears.

You feel like you're going faster than it actually is with 7.5 seconds for the zero-to-100 sprint.
The front-wheel drive has the powerful torque of 265 Newton meters, which is already present at 1,500 tours, quite adequately under control, of course, if you put your mind to it, you can make the tires scrape and the steering tug.

That will hardly happen in everyday traffic, but the Kia ProCeed GT is not really a completely balanced vehicle for every day.
There is already the firm chassis, which the sports driver likes and convinces in fast corners, but on bad roads also reports some bumps quite directly.

Consumption, on the other hand, which is only just above the official value of 6.8 liters per 100 kilometers, is also acceptable for frequent drivers.
The interior and interior cover the needs of a family as well as couples or singles who want to load sports luggage.
The sharply sloping combination rear does not meet all transport needs, but the ProCeed is not a car for craftsmen anyway.

But a stylish trend transporter, and a modern car even without electric support.
After the facelift, the instrument cluster also appears in digital splendor, with the new, sometimes misinterpreted Kia logo emblazoned on the steering wheel.
There is also a large touchscreen in the middle.
However, this is still complemented by many haptic buttons, for example for climate control.
Contemporary assistance systems such as Lane Assistant or Blind Spot Warner are available and work reliably, as is typical for Kia.
