A 32-year-old man was shot and killed on Tuesday in Écully (Rhône), in the Lyon suburbs, we learned from the prosecution.
Gunshots were heard by residents around 5 p.m., local newspaper Le Progrès reported.
A police source told the daily that three to four individuals would have fled in a “small model” car, and would be actively sought.
Shortly before 6 p.m., on Twitter, the Rhône prefecture had warned of an operation in the Avenue des Sources district in Écully and asked to avoid the area.

The Lyon prosecutor's office has opened an investigation for "murder in an organized gang following the shootings that caused the death" of the 30-year-old, a man from Kosovo according to Le Progrès.
She will have to determine the motive of the crime.
Still according to the regional daily, the tracks of the settlement of accounts as well as that of a private dispute are not excluded.
The investigation was entrusted to the judicial police, said the prosecution, without further details.
The district of Écully, located to the west of the metropolis, is 200 m from that of the Duchère, where several shootings have recently been recorded.
