Maybe you've given up and stopped paying attention, maybe you still believe that the excavation war in Gush Dan will one day turn into a light rail - for several thousand Israelis every year, the desperation of standing in traffic, the prices of cars and the realization that there is no normal public transportation here and there won't be any, led to a change in evolutionary direction - from four to two.
Metro Motor, the largest importer of two-wheelers in Israel, which controls 47% of the market and recently also entered the field of importing cars with the Chinese electric Lipomotor, looks back on the past year with satisfaction, despite the price increases due to the increase in prices on the part of the manufacturers and the significant shipping costs - there was still a slight increase of 1.2% in two-wheeler sales Wheels that reached 21,028 units.
It is interesting to compare to the car market, where the numbers are 10 times higher and more - but there was a 9.8% decrease this year.

In a market largely dominated by scooters of which 14,016 units were sold this year, the importer holds 57% of the category with only two brands - Yamaha and Sun Yang.
These two dominate the edges of the market with small and relatively cheap tools such as the DELIGHT 125 by Yamaha (here in March and at a price of NIS 15,000) and the ADX 125 from Sun Young which will arrive in the third quarter.
And on the other hand with the upper end of expensive tools like the TMAX of which more than 1,000 units were delivered this year when the marketing itself started in May.
And yet, Metro emphasizes, the general potential this year was much higher, according to them, they estimate the lack of about 1,000 vehicles, most of them from Yamaha's NMAX and XMAX models.

As far as forecasts are concerned, Metro is optimistic about the market's ability to develop and show sales in 2023. The reasons are mainly those that brought the good numbers of the outgoing year - the traffic situation on the roads, the high car prices and fuel costs, as well as the lack of a horizon of reliable public transportation adapted to the needs.
The great hope is a regulatory change in driver's licenses that will make it possible to ride a 125 cc vehicle even without a dedicated two-wheeler license.

Only in one point do they not really recognize room for improvement - the rate of penetration of electric tools into the market.
Unlike the car market, which already achieved 10% electric vehicles this year, in the two-wheeled market the penetration rate does not exceed 2% - a few hundred units out of a market of more than 21,000 units.
Metro currently has two all-electric brands - ZERO and Gogoro, which offers scooters in a package deal that includes monthly subscription fees in exchange for the use of batteries.
In their opinion, another hindering factor will be the process of exchanging ministers in the relevant ministries such as transport, finance, internal security and others which are supposed to be part of a move to promote the use of two-wheelers behind which the importers' union stands.

In terms of the new models that we will see during 2023, no big news was recorded.
The corona crisis and the economic and general uncertainty, led the two-wheeled manufacturers to freeze, cancel and recalculate the route in regards to the development processes of new models, and due to the fact that these cycles last between 3-5 years, a "hole" was created in the pace of the presentation of the models.
So as far as new models from the major manufacturers are concerned, the good news is modest, the Yamaha DELIGHT that we have already mentioned is a retro 125 cc scooter that will join the company's offering. The 125 and 300 cc XMAX pairs receive a series of design and accessory updates.
The MT07, MT125 and the Tracer only get a 5-inch screen, the Tenra 700 also gets the new screen alongside 3 disconnect modes for ABS for off-road riding and the A1 version for restricted license.
For long-distance touring riders, the Tracer 9 GT+ is added with luggage, a more comfortable rear seat, a 7.2-inch screen for the first time in Yamaha - adaptive cruise control.
Also the Heniken - the innovative three-wheeler gets an equipped GT version and along the way a series of improvements to the engine which should give it more power and flexibility at low rpm.

On the more popular side of things, Sun Yang isn't going to let the adventure-looking small scooter trend pass without grabbing a piece too, and they're joining the celebration with the ADX125.
With a combat design that includes a high reflector, a lot of black plastic, tires as if off-road and accessories that are not quite usual such as trunk opening and keyless drive.
The price has not yet been determined, and the expected arrival date is the third quarter of 2023.
