One of the biggest barriers to switching between smartphones is simply transferring your WhatsApp conversation history.
Now, according to a report on the WABetaInfo blog, which follows the developments and innovations in the popular messaging application, WhatsApp is expected to soon make the interface simpler - and faster.
Until now, backing up and restoring the user's call history is only possible as long as it was saved in Google's cloud (Google Drive).
In a future update, during the installation of the application on a new phone, you will be able to scan a QR code that will be displayed on the old one, and the transfer will be direct between device to device - without the mediation of the cloud.
However, it is important to note that it would still be advisable to back up the history in the cloud as well, since in cases where the device is lost or stolen, it will not be possible to recover the information.

As always, WABetaInfo emphasizes that it is not known when the new feature will be released to all users, and as of this writing it is still in development and testing with a limited number of beta users.
