It's time to say goodbye: Tomorrow (Tuesday), January 10, the legacy Windows 8.1 operating system will stop receiving critical security updates.
In addition, Microsoft will also stop supporting the Professional and Enterprise versions of Windows 7. "The computer will be exposed to increased risk in terms of viruses and malware. We recommend upgrading to a version of Windows that is still supported," says Microsoft's official blog.
However, at least for now Google's Chrome browser will continue to work on computers with these operating systems.
The information security company ESET explains that "although the old applications and operating systems do not stop working immediately, they become a significant risk as soon as malicious parties find vulnerabilities that can be exploited. Without important system updates, the devices may be the target of dangerous attacks aimed at harming users and information. It is very important to pass to supported operating systems as soon as possible. It can be a nuisance for a little moment, but completely easier and simpler than what would happen at the moment of impact.

Microsoft has given plenty of advance notice of its intentions to end support, but it still makes sense for millions of people to forget or simply reject this update.
The update process is not complicated and it is better to do it than to fall for a cyber attack."
