Mercedes is breaking new ground.

The car manufacturer is now investing in animated short films to better present its brand.

The retro nodding dog should help with that.

Most recently, Mercedes made a clear announcement about job cuts at certain locations, as

echo24.de

reported.

There should be more digitization in the plants of the car manufacturer from Stuttgart in the future.

It has now also become digital at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2023 in Las Vegas, USA.

As those responsible have announced in a statement, Mercedes will “take a step into the world of digital entertainment”.

To this end, the group is entering into a cooperation with the entertainment brand "SUPERPLASTIC".

The company is already known for some films.

Mercedes (AG)

Mercedes brings the cult bobblehead back to life

SUPERPLASTIC is known for its universe of fictional celebrities,

"brought to life through original social media content and strictly limited collectible and fashion collections," according to the post.

It has worked with a variety of top-class musicians, artists and international brands.

Mercedes is now securing the services of the creative minds.

At the CES in Las Vegas there was a first result of the cooperation.

The car company has revived the nodding dog from the 1970s and 1990s in an animated short film.

The cult retro accessory for the car becomes the "super dachshund".

Cooperation with "SUPERPLASTIC"

At Mercedes, the cooperation is seen as a “perfect connection between the cooperation partners”.

It's about new and traditional, luxury and trend as well as the connection between the digital and physical world.

Bettina Fetzer, Head of Communications & Marketing, Mercedes-Benz AG explains on the company website: "Mercedes-Benz has reinvented and reinterpreted its brand and its vehicles for a modern, digital age.

So why shouldn't the iconic bobblehead get an update too?

We warmly welcome the super dachshund to the Mercedes-Benz family.”

SUPER PLASTIC

According to its own information, SUPERPLASTIC operates a global entertainment brand whose aim is to create animated celebrities.

The company specializes in manufacturing animated synthetic celebrities, designer toys and apparel.

And Paul Budnitz, founder and CEO of "SUPERPLASTIC" also sees a new opportunity in the cooperation with the car manufacturer Mercedes: "We love to get brands out of their comfort zone.

Mercedes is a fantastic partner and the collaboration has been very symbiotic.”

The plot of the animated short film by Mercedes

According to Mercedes, the animated short

"stars the super dachshund and fictional SUPERPLASTIC main characters Janky and Guggimon"

.

The plot: Janky and Guggimon "borrow" a Mercedes-Benz from a branch one night.

As they drive off, they discover the nodding dog in the car.

The three then embark on a joyride through the moonlit streets of New York City.

A nighttime adventure of drama, a chase and a magical space whale begins.

Thanks to the influence of his newfound friends, the shy and reserved bobblehead transforms into a new personality, the super dachshund, over the course of the night.

Mercedes is planning more films with the super dachshund

For Mercedes and Fetzer, however, the journey of the super dachshund is far from over.

And Budnitz also sees further potential.

Both agree: "Stay tuned.

It's going to be a very special road trip!" And Bettina Fetzer, Head of Communications & Marketing, Mercedes-Benz AG sums it up: "The SUPERPLASTIC partnership enables Mercedes-Benz to discover new aspects in the world of culture and entertainment."
