When Tesla introduced the current Model S with the yoke steering wheel, that rudder-like control installed on airplanes, the world was divided into two - those who liked it and those who realized that it might look good, but a very bad idea when it comes to a car control accessory.
Now, following a widespread demand from customers, not everyone likes the awkwardness created by this steering wheel when maneuvering at low speed, the American manufacturer will allow customers who do not like the creative solution to operating the car to receive the models in which it is installed - the Model S and the Model X also with a normal steering wheel, this at no extra cost payment.
The choice between the regular steering wheel and the yoke can be made already at the stage of ordering the car, as it now appears on the manufacturer's Israeli website.

even though Tesla is not alone with this arrangement and Lexus also introduced something similar in -RZ, while Lexus installed a steering mechanism with a variable ratio, that is, when driving slowly the turning of the steering wheel creates a larger steering angle in the front wheels, while in Tesla the ratio is uniform, which makes it difficult to perform maneuvers that require too many turns of the steering wheel. And what about those who have already ordered the car or received it with the old steering wheel?
Tesla in the United States already offers a conversion kit for the car from the yoke to the regular steering wheel and this will be available starting in March 2023. The price of the conversion abroad is 700 dollars. Reference to the local market has not yet been published.
