The day after the attack which injured several people at the Gare du Nord on Wednesday morning, the suspect was taken into custody for attempted murder, the Paris prosecutor's office said on Thursday.
As well as a man likely to have hosted him.
The state of health of the assailant, who was shot and wounded by the police, was deemed compatible with a measure of police custody, according to the prosecution.
He had been hospitalized, shot twice in the chest and once in the arm after a police officer from the border police (PAF), in uniform and on duty, and another from the Ile-de-France network brigade (BRF), in civilian and out of service, who were on the scene at the time of the events, had opened fire.
This man in his twenties, whose identity is uncertain, injured "for no apparent reason at this stage" six people, including one seriously, with a punch at the Gare du Nord in Paris, before being overpowered by police officers who shot him.
