At Audi, some popular models will be phased out in 2023.

The carmaker will no longer produce successors to these cars.

With the R8, however, an electric car is to follow.

Audi needs success in 2023, as

echo24.de

reported.

Experts see some of the measures taken by the VW group as increasing pressure on the subsidiary and especially on boss Markus Duesmann and sales manager Hildegard Wortmann.

Numerous well-known models from Audi are not part of the future of the group, because their production will be discontinued.

Duesmann had already announced in February 2022 that it would massively thin out production.

The motto for Audi back then: earn more money with luxury cars and phase out smaller models.

He also mentioned two specific models to the "Handelsblatt": "Specifically, we have decided not to build the A1 anymore, and there will be no successor model of the Q2 either."

Audi's luxury strategy under criticism

The fact that the luxury strategy could become a problem for Audi in the wake of the poor sales figures in the past year is also part of the truth of the currently tense situation in the automotive industry.

For Jürgen Pieper, analyst at Bankhaus Metzler, the group is “the big loser among the three German premium manufacturers over a five-year period”.

Mercedes and BMW are therefore in a better position.

Company:

Audi

Head office:

Ingolstadt

Founding:

July 16, 1909, Zwickau

umbrella organization:

Volkswagen AG

But for which Audi models is this the end?

As the magazine "Focus online" writes, discontinued models in the car industry are basically nothing unusual.

According to the report, "in the course of the switch to new drive platforms", a particularly large number of models are disappearing from the scene forever.

Out for the Audi TT in 2023 - no direct successor planned

One Audi model that fans of the car brand from Ingolstadt will definitely miss on the streets is the Audi TT.

As reported by the portal motor1.com, among others, it will be over in 2023 after 25 years.

There will be

"no immediate successor"

.

The car manufacturer should probably plan a bang for the TT model.

According to the portal, a special model Audi TT RS Coupé iconic edition, limited to 100 copies throughout Europe, is to “celebrate the success story of a quarter of a century of the Audi TT Coupé with its market launch”.

The Audi R8 is also being phased out – an electric car is being planned

The end also comes for the already mentioned Audi models A1 and Q8.

With the A1, the reasons also lie in the sales figures.

As the automobile magazine "Auto Motor Sport" reported, "hardly ever a six-figure annual number of units was reached".

It's also over for Q2.

The Audi boss made it clear to the “Handelsblatt” in February 2022 that the Q2 will not have a successor.

And the Audi R8 will also disappear - as we know it now - from the production area at the Ingolstadt group.

The end of 2023 should finally be over for the super sports car.

According to the British car magazine "Autocar", an electric model is to be planned as the successor.
