The founder of Microsoft and the fourth richest man in the world, billionaire Bill Gates, was a guest on Reddit's old forum, Ask Me Anything ("Ask me anything"), and revealed that he does not have an iPhone and that he does not use an iPad, Mac or Microsoft's foldable phone (Surface Duo).

Instead, Gates said that he prefers a smartphone based on the Android operating system, adding that he is currently using the Galaxy Z Fold 4 that he received as a gift from Lee J. Jung, the vice chairman of Samsung, during a visit to South Korea.

"Of course I use -Outlook and in many Microsoft programs on the device," Gates wrote. "The size of the screen means that I don't use a tablet, but only my phone and my laptop - with Windows software." Gates also said that Microsoft involves it in some of their research programs and products, noting that the desktop computer -His "great" is Microsoft's Surface Studio type.

Gates did not elaborate on why he continues to prefer Android over iPhone.

However, during an interview in 2021, the billionaire said that his decision boils down to the fact that "Android manufacturers are more flexible when it comes to the connection between the software and the operating system."

He later explained that the intention is that some manufacturers of Android-based phones pre-install Microsoft software.

On the other hand, Gates' reasoning is a bit strange, since Microsoft applications can be downloaded from Apple's App Store, and the default browser can even be adjusted to another one.

Let's recall that Gates has also said in the past that he does keep an iPhone to try things out, but it's not the device he uses regularly.

In an interview he gave in 2019, Gates shared that the biggest mistake ever was the mismanagement that caused Microsoft to miss out on the race for control of the smartphone world: "Android is the standard phone platform, and it was a place where it was natural for Microsoft to win. It's a market where the winner takes it all. There is room for exactly one operating system other than Apple's."

In the past, the company launched independent smartphones based on the Windows Phone operating system - but failed and decided to exit the mobile market.
