When the character of Emily Cooper, played by Lily Collins in the series "Emily in Paris", said "I love Paris but I'm not sure Paris loves me" she may have predicted what was to come.

Now a French politician has also attacked the popular Netflix series, accusing it of "promoting conservative values".

David Belliard, the deputy mayor of Paris, delivered a scathing critique of the series in the Liberation newspaper on Thursday.

According to him, the series presents "an image of Paris as Disneyland, populated only by the richest people, in short 'Instagram Paris' with perfect colors and ideal views".

He also wrote that "we have to get out of nostalgia for a stereotypical city".

The series, which follows Emily, a young American who moves from Chicago to Paris, premiered on Netflix in October 2020 and the previous month saw the release of its third season and also became a hit with high viewing figures in Israel and around the world.

The French politician's criticism of "Emilie in Paris" was added to the many French critics who had previously condemned the series for the negative stereotypes of Parisians and the French.

After the release of the third season, millions of viewers did not notice a serious editorial error, which only a one-eyed Tiktok surfer noticed.

In the third episode of the new season, Emily is seen walking around the hotel room of Madeleine, her American boss, and when she approaches the window of the room and looks out - two (!) Eiffel towers sprout in front of her in the stunning Parisian landscape.
