The LG company announced the four winners of the LIFE'S GOOD AWARD, intended to support innovative companies from all over the world that face various challenges in creating a "better life for everyone" - the theme of the company's global activity.

Among the winners is the Israeli startup SOLUTUM, which developed a water-soluble and biodegradable plastic.

SOLUTUM, which includes only 23 employees, was established in 2017 and has already raised about 10 million dollars.

The company has developed a new environmentally friendly plastic material that dissolves in water at room temperature, and decomposes without leaving microplastic residues or toxins.

The jury at the finals of the competition held at the LG Innovation Center in Seoul, the capital of South Korea, included, among others, LG's Chief Technology Officer Dr. Kim Byung-hoon and LG's Chief Strategy Officer Lee Sam-soo, along with senior executives from the field of corporate responsibility. The judges rated the four winners to the final, based on criteria of technological innovation and concern for sustainability and ensuring accessibility to technology and innovation - which are central focal points in LG's long-term plan, "Better Life 2030".

"We are happy and excited to see and know that a huge corporation like LG recognizes the value of our product to solve the single-use plastic problem, through a solution created by an Israeli company that changes the rules of the game and creates a global opportunity for commercial companies," said Sharon Barak, founder of SOLUTUM.
