The creators against the closing of the corporation (The Creators and Producers Forum)
Hundreds of creators and employees of the television industry came this morning (Wednesday) to a protest conference in Tel Aviv against Communications Minister Shlomo Karai's plan to widely cut the budget of the Public Broadcasting Corporation here, in an amount estimated at hundreds of millions of shekels.
The protesters emphasize the importance of public broadcasting, and claim, among other things, that the move will harm the livelihood of thousands of families.
Protest signs in and outside the hall read, among other things, "We are all here", "Public broadcasting = democratic broadcasting" and "Welcome to North Korea".
After the conference, the protestors set out for a demonstration procession that will march to the Government Palace.

Tamira Yardani, one of the top producers in Israel, accused the politicians who support the initiative of disconnection.
"There is no doubt that a new record of opacity, disconnection from the people, disconnection from culture and art will be broken here. We the creators have become the enemies of the people. To close the corporation is to send thousands of families into poverty," said Yardani.
"We are here to save the world of culture from collapsing. Closing a TV channel hurts everyone. Mr. Prime Minister and Minister of Communications - put your ego aside. Come talk to us."
