The filmmakers' protest
: Senior filmmakers such as Ari Pullman, Hagai Levy, Yosef Sider, Guy Nativ, Maor Zagori and more openly called on their friends to refrain from submitting support requests to the Rabinovitch Fund - the only film fund that currently requires artists to sign a "loyalty clause" in advance, and recently stated Culture Minister Miki Zohar says he intends to oblige the other film funds to follow suit: "We are in a new reality. If we don't say 'no' now - we will miss the opportunity for change."
This is what they wrote in the letter they published: "Next week is the submission deadline for the Rabinovitch Foundation. As we know, the Rabinovitch Foundation is the first and only foundation in Israel that has volunteered to include in its contracts a declaration of loyalty and requires everyone who contracts with it to publicly declare and pledge that he is an obedient citizen, as a condition for receiving support. Many of us, including some of the signatories of this letter, received support from the Rabinovitch Foundation in recent years and even signed the aforementioned trust clause.
We do not come to discredit their names, or cast blame on them, the world of cinema is small, the means of financing it are poor and there are people who were forced to stick with this dangerous precedent.
