The Showtime network canceled "Dexter: New Blood", the sequel to the series "Dexter" after only one season - this was announced in the foreign media.

The cancellation was surprising, as "Dexter: New Blood" had excellent ratings and was Showtime's most-watched series after its premiere in November 2021. However, it should be noted that the reviews for it were mixed.

According to the TVLine website, the decision to cancel a sequel to "Dexter: New Blood" was made after it was already in development.

Showtime did not respond to the publication of the expected cancellation.

However, it was announced that instead of "Dexter: New Blood", the network is considering several ideas related to Dexter, including a prequel series to the original series, which will focus on a younger version of Dexter, in which he is apparently still trying to control his urge to murder.

Another American TV show that is expected to come to an end is the American talk show "Dr. Phil", hosted by psychologist Dr. Phil McGraw.

The show will be axed after 21 seasons, McGraw announced yesterday (Tuesday), when his contract with CBS expires.

Before the show aired, Dr. Phil had a corner on Oprah Winfrey's show which was very successful, and following it he began presenting an independent show he created with Winfrey, which aired in September 2002. In the show, Dr. Phil gives advice to improve life, based on his experience as a clinical psychologist.

"I have been blessed with more than 25 wonderful years on television," said Dr. Phil, "with this program we have helped thousands of citizens and millions of viewers in everything from addiction and marriage to mental health and raising children.

It was an amazing chapter in my life and career." Dr. Phil added that he would like to focus on another prime-time show that will hopefully launch in 2024.
