Ford wants to get into Formula 1. Red Bull is looking for a partner for its own engine and is therefore collaborating with the US manufacturer from 2026.
From 2026, a new engine era will start in Formula 1.

However, Ford does not deliver the engines, but supports the multiple design world champion in the development and co-finances them.
The BBC reports, citing a message sent by mistake by the Italian news agency Ansa, which was later withdrawn.
Accordingly, Ford had informed the agency about the plans.

The collaboration between the US automaker and Red Bull Powertrains - the new engine division of the Formula 21 team - is to be officially announced at today's presentation of the car for the 2023 season in New York.
Nothing is known about the duration of the collaboration.
However, the engines should wear "Blue Oval" and also be used by the sister team Alpha Tauri.

The racing team from Millton Keynes has also gained a lot of Formula 1 experience with Ford.
So the Americans dominated the sport with the Cosworth DFV V8 engines from 1967 until the start of the turbo era in the early 1980s.
Even in the 1990s, Cosworth was always active as an engine partner in the premier class.

In 1999, Ford acquired Team Stewart Racing and entered Formula 1 as a factory with Jaguar – now part of Tata Motors.
In 2004, however, the project ended and the team was sold to Red Bull. In the first season, the team from the Austrian energy drink manufacturer started with Cosworth-Aggergaten before switching to Ferrari.

After two years they switched to Renault - the partnership ended in 2018 in a dispute.
Team Honda, whose engines will continue to drive the cars until 2025, won as a new partner.
The Japanese actually wanted to get out of Formula 1 after the 2021 season and support Red Bull in using the units until the end of 2023.
But the new regulations and the successes with Red Bull have probably also led to a rethink at Honda.
