A large rectangular panel, lined with multiple photos, that Lucas' mother firmly holds at the head of the procession.
Some 200 people gathered this Sunday afternoon in Épinal, in the Vosges, for a white march in memory of the 13-year-old teenager who ended his life on January 7.
Séverine, his mother, spoke briefly at the end of the march.
“My baby, you will forever be in my heart.
You are in my thoughts every passing moment.
Time has stopped, my world has collapsed (…) Forever my baby I love you, ”she said, stifling her sobs, thanking all the participants.
“Have courage to live and fight for who you are,” she later added.
Just before her, it was Lucas' godmother who spoke at greater length, encouraging parents to "protect their children", and inviting children to confide: "Children, talk to your parents if you have problems above all, ”she said.
"He was so sparkling, with his little touch of madness"
His few words also painted the portrait of Lucas, “a boy who had lots of ambitions and dreams”.
“He loved music.
He listened to Adèle in a loop, for hours and hours, ”she said.
The boy "likes to walk in the forest" and had "built a cabin there".
"He wanted to make hairdressing his job," says this relative.
"He liked to draw to make the world more beautiful and colorful in his eyes, he was so sparkling, with his little grain of madness".
An investigation for harassment was opened after the death of the schoolboy, whose relatives denounce mockery and insults from other students because of his homosexuality.
Four of his classmates from Louis Armand college in Golbey will be tried for harassment.
