Aisne: a mother and her seven children die in the fire of their house

A woman and her seven children died in the fire of their house in Charly-sur-Marne, in Aisne, on the night of Sunday to Monday.

Contacted by Le Parisien, the Aisne firefighters confirm that a large-scale operation took place in this village of 2,600 inhabitants.

This mobilized “very many means, including two large scales” to intervene in this detached house.

In total, about 80 firefighters had to take turns to put out the flames.

According to the gendarmerie and the fire brigade, the seven children were aged from 2 to 14 years old.

The father of this blended family, seriously burned, was transferred to the hospital.

The causes of the fire are not yet known and are under investigation, the public prosecutor is on site.

Firefighters warned by neighbors

The children, five girls and two boys, and their parents were sleeping on the second floor of this townhouse when the fire broke out, the gendarmerie said.

The firefighters were notified at 12:52 a.m. by a call from neighbors.

Four of the children were from the mother's first union, according to the same source.

The last similar drama dates back to the night of December 15 to 16, with the death of six people, including four children, in the fire of a seven-storey condominium located in a popular district undergoing urban renewal in Vaulx-en-Velin. .
