Google unveiled this evening (Monday) Bard ("poet") - a chatbot based on the language model of the company for dialogue applications (LaMDA).

The new tool will rely on answers from the web and provide up-to-date information, and will later be integrated into the old search engine we all know.

"We are taking another step forward and allowing trusted testers to try it out, before it is available to the public in the coming weeks," Google wrote in a press release.

However, at least at first, not all of us will be able to get used to the new tool immediately.

"We will combine external feedback with our own internal testing to ensure that Bard's answers meet a high standard of quality, safety and grounding in real-world information. We are excited for this phase of experimentation to help us continue to learn and improve Bard's quality and speed."

What's the bottom line?

"Bard combines the breadth of knowledge that exists in the world with the power of intelligence and creativity of our large language models and it relies on information from the Internet to provide up-to-date and high-quality answers," explained Sundar Pichai, CEO of Google. "Soon, you will see in the search engine features powered by Artificial intelligence that distills complex information and multiple perspectives into easier formats, so that you can quickly understand the big picture and learn more from the Internet."

Also, unlike Microsoft, which has not yet officially announced that it will integrate ChatGPT into the Bing search engine, Google notes that Bard will be integrated into the search engine already Soon. And that's not all, Google added that they are "now working to bring the latest advances in artificial intelligence into our products, starting with the search engine."

"In the first step we are publishing it with the light version of LaMDA," Pichai added.

"The much smaller model requires less computing power, which allows us to reach more users, and also get more feedback. We will combine external feedback with our own internal testing to ensure that Bard's answers meet a high standard of quality, safety, and grounding in real-world information. We are excited about the phase That of the experience that will help us continue to learn and improve the quality and speed of Bard."
