The wave of restarts does not miss the British products either.

John Cleese's classic, Poletti's Hotel, is expected to return in an updated incarnation more than 40 years after the original series came to an end.

Cleese himself will star alongside his daughter Camilla Cleese, and the two are also expected to write the series.

Poletti's Hotel will follow the exaggerated, cynical and misanthropic Basil Poletti, played by John Cleese, as he tries to navigate his way in the modern world.

Plot details are mostly kept under wraps, but what is known is that at the center of the story will be Basil's relationship with a daughter he just discovered he has, and the pair tease his fate and team up to run a boutique hotel.

The original Polty's Hotel aired for only two short seasons - six episodes each - between 1975 and 1979, but is considered one of the best British comedies of all time, and was even ranked as the best on several lists.

The series, written by Cleese and his first-season wife Connie Booth, followed hapless hotel manager Poletti and a hilarious cast of characters that included legendary Spanish waiter Manuel (Andrew Sacks), Basil's domineering wife Sybil (Fronella Scale) and their chambermaid Polly, played by Booth's.

John Cleese was discovered, of course, as part of the Monty Python gang, and beyond that he starred in films such as "A Fish Named Wanda", the "Harry Potter" films, the new "James Bond" films, and in a long series of dubbing roles, including in "Shark " and "Pinocchio".

In recent years, he has not spared his negative opinion regarding the cancellation culture, and even created a documentary on the subject for the British Channel 4.
