A day after Google announced the upcoming launch of the new artificial intelligence (AI)-based answer and task engine called "Bard", Microsoft also makes a dramatic announcement about a new service in the world of generative artificial intelligence (Generative AI).
This evening, Microsoft announced a significant upgrade to its Bing search engine and Edge browser, so that they will be based on a powerful AI engine that will provide complex answers and perform tasks, in the style of ChatGPT - the popular AI engine launched in November 2022.
Unlike Google's Bard engine, which will be launched to the general public in just a few weeks, Microsoft's new engine is already available to the general public, freely.
"Artificial intelligence is profoundly changing every software category, first of all in the biggest category of all - search," announced Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella.
A post on the company's blog states that "Today, 10 billion searches are performed every day, but about half of them remain unanswered because people use search for tasks it was not intended for. It is great for finding websites, but it often fails to answer more complex questions or tasks." .
The ChatGPT service was launched last November and these days it is revolutionizing the way we can easily process complex information and perform writing and creative tasks that previously required many resources.
