Amazon package: The minimum order value for free delivery has been increased

After Amazon raised the price of its Prime subscription last year, the retail group is now trying to get more money from other customers.
The minimum order value for free delivery is now being raised from 29 to 39 euros.
Amazon Prime members will continue to be supplied with items from the Prime range free of charge.
The step follows weeks of back and forth. The price adjustment had already appeared several times on the Amazon website in January, but the group described the information as an error at the time.
A spokesman now explains to SPIEGEL: "We did not take the decision to raise the limit for free shipping lightly." The reason for the adjustment is the general increase in delivery costs, which Amazon has no influence on.
The shipping costs on Amazon itself are between 2.99 and 9.99 euros, depending on the products ordered and the type of shipping: The most expensive is the so-called same-day delivery, which is not available for all products.
For the time being, nothing will change in the exception rules: As before, the shipping costs will not apply to orders for books, audio books or calendars, as well as for all orders of “articles that qualify for Amazon Prime” by Prime subscribers.
