After launching the EV6 in question and the new electric Niro, and just before it reveals the large crossover without exhaust emissions, Kia is already thinking about a fourth electric car.
An executive at Kia Europe admitted in a conversation with the automobile industry news site "Automotive News" that the company is considering launching an electric Picanto.
The market share of small cars in Europe is estimated at about 26%, and it is difficult for Kia to give it up in the era of the transition to electric propulsion.
Kia has already proven its ability to design and manufacture electric cars, but the Picanto brings with it another challenge: tough cost requirements.
The price of the Picanto in Europe starts before discounts at about 13 thousand euros.
An electric Picanto, according to the manufacturer, cannot raise more than 16-17 thousand euros.
At the Volkswagen Group, we marked 20,000 euros as the price target for the group's next electric mini, which Seat will develop.
Renault announced at the last Paris show that it is working on an electric car for only 10,000 euros, but European car industry officials claim that this is an unrealistic price.

This is a serious price challenge: the Volkswagen e-up, the electric version of the small Volkswagen, is sold in Germany for 30,000 euros before tax benefits and discounts.

There is a 33 kWh battery and an official range of 260 km.
It is not marketed in Israel.
Kia is expected to cooperate in development with Hyundai, as the Picanto and i10 currently share many components, in order to reduce costs.

The car manufacturers complain that even on the small gasoline models they no longer manage to earn enough to justify the production: Chevrolet stopped the production of the Spark, Peugeot-Citroen the production of the 108/C1, and Toyota replaced the iGo with the iGo-X, which received Design of a crossover to try to justify in the eyes of the customers a price increase of about 25%.
In Israel, the Chinese Lip Motor's electric mini, TO3, is already being marketed at a price of NIS 100,000, which is only NIS 7,000 more expensive than a basic Picanto.
It comes with a 41 kWh battery and an official range of 280 km.
However, Lipp Motor does not yet have an active safety package, which reduces the manufacturer's costs by hundreds of euros.
Such a package is already offered in China and should join the Israeli specification later this year.
