The huge success of the prestigious drama is already leading to a lot of interest regarding its next season. Johnny Knoxville's spewing might indicate where the next season will take place, too

A little more than two months have passed since the finale of the second season of "The White Lotus" aired, and the prestigious HBO drama continues to be a hot topic among viewers, critics and journalists.

Part of this is probably due to the extreme television dryness that the first two months of 2023 brought with them (more or less "the last of us" and that's it), but there is also the natural expectation for the future to come.

The third season was given the green light by the network already last November, and already the first details about what is expected to happen in it are beginning to emerge.

Where will the third season of "The White Lotus" take place?

The first to "volunteer" to provide details was actually Johnny Knoxville, a name that probably wasn't the first that came to your mind in the context of the series.

During a recent interview with the Vulture magazine website, Knoxville said: "Mike White is a very close friend of mine. We were together in Tokyo recently. I think that's where the next part of... Oh, I'm not revealing anything here. I might have to call him After this conversation is over."

As usual in segments of this type, it is not at all certain that Knoxville really "released" something that was not supposed to, or that this is another way for the PR of the series to keep it in the headlines. What is certain is that his words align with those of White himself. As part of HBO's official behind-the-scenes video series that accompanied the series, the creator said in the segment that accompanies the last episode of the season: "The first season was about money, the second season was about sex, I think it could be interesting to bring a satirical-comic look at death in Eastern culture and spirituality." Tokyo can certainly meet this need of The capital of Eastern culture and practice of spirituality.

Which actors will star in the third season of "The White Lotus"?

A much thicker fog hovers over the names that will make up the cast for next season.

It is already clear that Jennifer Coolidge, the big star of the first two seasons, will not return (for obvious reasons) for another season.

And since the story of each season is different, it seems unlikely that we will see other familiar faces from previous seasons in the plot of the next shiny and pastoral hotel.

Unless, of course, Connie Britton is also trying to imply something she supposedly shouldn't.

As you remember, Britton was one of the stars of the first season of the series, and in a recent interview she gave to E!

News, was asked quite innocently if she had any conversations about returning for the third season.

Britton replied with a rolling laugh and exchanging glances with someone behind the camera, until after many seconds she finally stopped: "My lips are sealed."

By the way, in an earlier interview with the Deadline website, Britton mentioned that her character was supposed to return for the second season.

"He (White) wanted me for the second season, and there was an idea I liked about the character. A piece of the casting didn't work in the preparations for the second season so we hope to be able to bring it in the third season. I like to see a spin-off of each of the characters in this series."

When will the third season of "The White Lotus" arrive?

That's a very, very million dollar question.

Speculations are talking about the first part of 2024, but things should be taken with a grain of salt mainly due to the strike cloud that hangs over Hollywood these days.

Returning for the third season?

One thing is certain about the future of the series, and it concerns its place at the upcoming Emmy Awards.

In a statement on behalf of the American Television Academy (which is behind the ceremony) last weekend, it was stated that HBO will not be able to submit the second season to the mini-series category, as it did the first season.

This is because there is continuity between the seasons, as exemplified by Coolidge's character Tanya.

This means that "The White Lotus" is expected to compete in the most prestigious and difficult category of all, the best drama series, which is expected to include names such as "Heirs", "Trust Sol", "The Last of Us", "The Crown", "Dragon House" and others.

In other words, this time it will be more difficult for her to come away with ten awards, although the buzz right now is definitely in her favor.
