The Rolling Stones are working on a new album that is expected to feature the two surviving members of the Beatles, Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr.

According to a report on the "Variety" website, McCartney has already recorded some bass parts on the album that is being produced by Grammy winner Andrew Watt - while Beatles drummer Ringo Starr is also expected to play.

Several sources told the site that the recordings took place in Los Angeles a few weeks ago and the production of the album is nearing its final stages.

McCartney has worked with Andrew Watt before.

In an interview in 2021 he said: "I was going to make myself a cup of tea and of course we found ourselves producing a song."

When answering fan questions by several months, McCartney was asked what he was most looking forward to in 2023. In response, he replied: "I've been recording with a few people recently, and I'm looking forward to doing it more. I've also started working with producer Andrew Watt, and he's very interesting. We had fun. Beyond that, I don't have any big plans at the moment."

The Stones' last album that included original material was released in 2005. Since then, an album has been released that included covers of blues songs.

In 2021, the band's drummer Charlie Watts passed away at the age of 80.
