The electric family car based on the Ionik 5 has begun to be sold in the United States and its price tag can tell us what the direction will be in Israel

It is supposed to be Hyundai's answer to the Tesla Model 3 and contrary to all the statements of the many manufacturers, Hyundai, at least based on the impression left on us by the Ioniq 5, is also the only manufacturer that can also deliver.

The Ioniq 6 sits on Hyundai's electric E-GMP platform, that is, a sister not only to the Ioniq 5 but also to the Kia EV6 and Genesis GV60.

Despite using the same platform, batteries and engines, it should be the queen of the range with the help of an aerodynamic exterior design and an extremely low drag coefficient - 0.21cd.

Or in kilometers: a little more than 400 km already in the entry model with the 53 kWh battery, a little more than 600 km for the one with the 77 kWh battery.

In favor of this design, it lengthens its body to 4.86 meters (an increase of 22 cm compared to the Ionic 5), lowers the roof to 1.5 meters and the wheelbase is shortened by 5 cm to 2.95 meters.

The trunk has a volume of 401 liters.

The car has two drive configurations, a single engine with rear-wheel drive and 228 hp and a jump to 100 km/h in 7.4 seconds.

The two engine version with dual drive produces 325 hp and 5.1 seconds to 100 km/h.

Until now things were known, the new news in this story is its price, published in the United States.

There it starts at $42,715 and up to $57,215 for the top version.

A very interesting price not only because it sits exactly on that of the Model 3, but also cheaper than the price there of the Ionic 5, whose price in Israel is NIS 214,000.

Above the entry price of the base version (with the small battery) is the base version with the larger battery and longer range that costs $46,615.

The higher trim level of this version the SEL will cost $48,815 and above it is the "Limited" trim level which costs $53,715.

For the double drive and engine versions in all trim levels, this is an additional $3,500.

Despite certain differences in the levels of finish and equipment compared to what comes to Israel, this is a price range that allows you to get an idea of what its local pricing might be.

With amounts that vary between the opening prices and the price of the most senior version, this puts the Ionique 6 close to the opening prices of the Toyota bZ4X ($43,335) whose price in Israel starts at 240 thousand shekels, for the Bionic 5 ($45,295) and 214 thousand shekels, the Volkswagen ID4 whose price In the United States 45,290 dollars and in Israel 235 thousand shekels, and in the upper segment, the Kia EV6 whose price in the United States is 50,025 dollars and 249 thousand shekels in Israel. An exception in this list is another major competitor - the Tesla Model 3 in the SR version which starts at 43 thousand dollars and -205 thousand shekels in Israel.

In other words, assuming that Hyundai's pricing policy in Israel will be similar to that of the US and that the trim levels will be similar, we are looking at a price range that could be close to that of the Ioniq 5 and even north of the prices of the EV6, that is, close to NIS 250,000. Second, you can always hope for pricing to be in the area of the Model 3, its closest competitor from this list.
