Good news for electric car owners due to the lack of fast charging stations throughout the country.
Dor Alon and Afcon Electric Transportation last week began operating the largest fast charging complex outside of Tesla's network in Israel, which is still closed to owners of cars from other manufacturers.
This is an upgrade to the Dor Alon station in Dvira, south of Beit Kama, on the section shared by roads 6 and 40.
To the ultra-fast station (175 kWh) there were added 5 more stations with a power of 150 kWh, which allow the charging of 6 cars at the same time, compared to up to 2 in most of the other fast charging stations in Israel.
The charging price is not cheap - NIS 2 per kWh, as in the rest of Afcon's network. Tesla, for example, charges NIS 1.2 in its network. At Afcon, the reason for the price, which is 3 times higher than the price of charging at a domestic rate, is the high costs of establishing fast charging complexes, increasing the electricity capacity instead, and installing the fast charging stations.
Additional positions in the complex.
After 27,000 streetcars were sold here in 2022, and this year already around 10,000, there is a shortage of positions

The location of the complex is relevant to most of the trams that travel to Eilat and back and is a backup for the high-speed stations at the more northern Dor Alon stations on Route 6, each of which has the option of simultaneously charging only two cars with fast charging.
In Israel today there are already 200 fast charging complexes for electric vehicles, mainly in gas stations and shopping centers.
Although other charging companies are also starting to place stations that allow at least two electric cars to be charged at the same time, there is still a lack of both locations and available stations.
This is against the background of malfunctions in the existing stations that are already causing that owners of electric cars are sometimes forced to wait in line for charging.
Tesla is the only one in all the complexes it has built that can charge between 4 and 8 cars at the same time, but unlike Europe and the USA where it is starting to allow electric cars that are not manufactured by it to be charged, in Israel its complexes still do not allow this.
