A Tesla driver in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania apparently didn't feel like checking how much his electric car was actually allowed to pull - now he faces a hefty fine and a point in Flensburg.

As reported by the police, the officials on the federal highway 96 near Stralsund noticed a Tesla Model X with a trailer - a wheel loader was loaded.
The police officers' gut feeling: Something is wrong here - and the officers should be right.
According to the vehicle registration document, the electric car had a towing capacity of 2,250 kg, but the wheel loader alone weighed in at 2.9 tons.
Together with the weight of the trailer, the Stromer pulled 3.6 tons.
In plain language: The 19-year-old had exceeded the towing capacity of his car by more than half the permissible weight.
The catalog of fines ends at 30 percent if the trailer load is exceeded.
The driver must therefore expect a fine of 235 euros, there is a point in Flensburg.
