A fire broke out yesterday (Monday) at the Foxlink factory in southern India, which produces cables for iPhones - according to a report in the Reuters news agency.
The Taiwanese company Foxlink has been producing the cables for iPhone chargers since 2020. Authorities in India report that as a result of the fire, the building was heavily damaged - which partially collapsed.
In addition, about 50 percent of the machines in the factory were damaged.
The fire services in India reported that there were no casualties in the incident, and that they are in the field and examining the circumstances of the fire outbreak.
Meanwhile, as of this writing Apple has not commented on the incident and it is unclear how it might affect (if at all) the company's supply chains.

As you may recall, at the end of 2022 Apple transferred a large part of the production of the iPhone series to India, with the aim of avoiding damage to the supply chains following repeated outbreaks of Corona and due to the deterioration of relations between the US and China. This is a sharp turn after years in which the technology giant relied on production in factories in China only.
