If the pandemic has not led to an increase in deaths by suicide, Public Health France stresses that the context (inflation, energy crisis, climate risk, conflicts, etc.) continues to undermine the mental health of French people and can contribute to increasing suicide risk.
While progress has been made in France since 2010 to reduce the suicide rate, it remains among the highest in Europe.
