We've been waiting, and here it comes: tonight (Wednesday) the song "Unicorn" by Noa Kirel, who will represent Israel at Eurovision 2023 to be held in Liverpool, England, was revealed.

The song, which was revealed on a festive broadcast at Khan 11, was created by Kirel with Yanon Yahal, who produced the songs "Golden Boy" by Nadav Gedge and "Peker Libi" by Eden Elena;

the musician Mai Sepadia;

And also Doron Medley, who wrote, among other things, the song "Toy" with which Neta Barzilai won the Eurovision Song Contest a few years ago.

The Eurovision final will take place on May 13, but Kirel will have to pass the semi-final hurdle a few days earlier.

In October, the European Broadcasting Union announced that only 37 countries will participate in Eurovision 2023, the lowest number since 2014. This increases Kirel's chances of advancing to the final.

Kirel will appear in the first semi-final on Tuesday, May 9, along with 14 other countries: Ireland, Latvia, Malta, Norway, Serbia, Portugal and Croatia, Azerbaijan, Netherlands, Moldova, Finland, Czech Republic, Sweden and Switzerland.

Last month, Frank Dieter Freiling, chairman of the Eurovision Executive Committee (Reference Group), sent a letter to Prime Minister Netanyahu, which was obtained by Walla! Culture, in which he compliments the person who will represent Israel in the contest, Noa Kirel, and hints that if Israel wins the Eurovision, the contest will be hosted in Israel next year may be in danger due to the government's moves. "I am happy to see that this year a very promising artist will represent Israel in the Eurovision Song Contest, which will take place in Liverpool in May," the Eurovision senior wrote to Netanyahu. Because in the event of an Israeli victory in this year's competition, the country will only be able to host Eurovision in 2024 if the Public Broadcasting Corporation is fully functional, and if the Israeli broadcasting body meets the criteria required for membership in the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) and the Eurovision rules. We are happy to welcome strong and ambitious artists representing the Israel every year,And I know you will agree with the importance of Israel's participation in Eurovision as a unique and wonderful opportunity to share Israeli culture and talent with the world."
