Renault's popular brand will launch in two years a new competitor to the Skoda Kodiaq and Mitsubishi Outlander, based on the Nissan X-Trail, and will be significantly cheaper than them. But what about safety?

In two months, the Dacia Jogger, the company's new 7-seater minivan, will land in Israel, in an automatic hybrid version, which is expected to cost about NIS 140,000.

The Jogger was built according to the same concept that characterizes Dacia since it was purchased by Renault in 1999: production of models about 20% cheaper than the competitors, based on existing Renault components.

The Jogger will also be the cheapest automatic 7-seat vehicle in Israel, and in fact it will be cheaper than hybrid family cars with 5 seats.

After a year when the last of the mini-vans disappeared from the market, and the prices of most 7-seater Jeepneys jumped to around NIS 200,000 - only the base version of the Chery Tigo 8 costs NIS 182,000 - the Jogger will have a dramatic price advantage for families the big ones

But Da'cia does not stop here.

In 2025, it will also launch a 7-seater Jeep, taller and with a tougher design than the Jogger, and with a 4x4 version.

In an interview with the British Autocar, the CEO of Dacia, Denis Le Watt, confirmed that the company will launch the car in two years,

The mass-produced Bigster will be based on the platform already used by the Nissan X-Trail, and will not be much more expensive than the Duster.

The specifications will include gasoline engines alongside a hybrid version, probably the one we have already seen in the Jogger and coming from Renault, based on a 1,600 cc gasoline engine with a power of 140 hp.

This means that if Dacia keeps the existing price level, it may increase in Israel from NIS 150-160 thousand.

But de Wet also had less good news: Dacia does excel in value for money, but lags behind the market in terms of safety, as part of its attempt to lower the prices of the vehicles it produces.

The Bigster will be no different.

"Our recipe is very clear," said De Wet, "We make the car that is required. We design cars with zero excess. There will be no screen when we can avoid one,

In the meantime, the formula is working for Dacia: in 2022, it recorded a 21% jump in sales in Europe, and 6.8% in the world, and produced 574 thousand vehicles.

Simultaneously with the launch of the Bigster, Dacia will launch a station wagon version of the new Sandro, which has not yet arrived in Israel, but will not launch a replacement for the Docker, the Tendron it produced until 2021. It will leave this market segment to the owner of the house and her Kangoo.
