Last week, an SUV driver tried to cross a remote road in the Willamette Nature Reserve in the county. is maintained for travel in the winter, and there is no regular snow removal from it. The man's car got stuck in the snow, and when he tried to call for help he discovered that, in addition to all the trouble, he also had no cell phone reception there. The man had a drone, and he connected his cell phone to it.
He then typed a text message to a trusted person describing his condition and exact location, hit send, and launched the drone into the air.
The device continued to search for a connection to the cellular network, until at a height of several hundred meters it was able to connect and the message went through.
The rescue and rescue team went to the scene, and according to his report, while he rescued the owner of the drone, he located and rescued another driver who was also stuck nearby in the snow for several days.
