It's one of the standard traffic signs - but many people still don't know what it means: what does the black cross in the red triangle mean?
It's a typical traffic scene: A large road leads through the village, a smaller one joins in from the right.
As a matter of course, most cars race through.
Drivers in cars or on bikes coming from the side wait patiently.
A traffic sign shows those in a hurry that they actually have the right of way - but not everyone knows it.
So the black cross in a red-framed triangle is at least in good company.
There are many signs whose meaning is not known to everyone - from exotic ones like the black and white "hourglass" on the highway to really helpful hints like the orange arrow.

One thing is clear: the white triangle with a red border must be a danger sign.
Officially, it bears the traffic sign number 102, but it is also called a right-before-left sign.
It therefore refers to an actually self-evident rule that the road user coming from the right has the right of way.
Ultimately, this applies to all intersections or junctions where the priority is not regulated by the traffic signs.

Therefore, sign no. 102 is only in dangerous places that are difficult to see or where the right-before-left rule is repeatedly ignored - see above.
In addition, it is used where right-of-way rules have only recently changed to counteract the effect of habit.

Basically, the right-before-left sign is a warning and not a requirement or prohibition.
Nevertheless, fines and points in Flensburg threaten if the right of way regulations are disregarded.
If it even crashes, it will of course be really expensive for road users coming from the left.
