About five years after it began the journey towards electricity, at the same time as presenting the latest versions of its extreme sports car such as the Audi R8, Audi RS3 and the TT RS, the German manufacturer is already signaling the route that will move it to electric drive or at least electrified in the coming years.
Audi has already announced the separation from the monstrous V10 engine that it and Lamborghini shared, but this time it is a clear statement - one of the main cars in the manufacturer's offer, the A3, will be electric in its next generation.
At least that's what the brand's technology manager Oliver Hoffman told the British Autocar magazine.
Similar things were said by other company executives at the manufacturer's annual conference, where it talks about its future plans.

At the moment it is not really clear whether the next generation will still use the Volkswagen Group's MEB electric platform that serves the ID.4, the ID.3 and the car that will replace the Golf in the ID.2all range that was presented as a concept, or whether it will already get to do Using the concern's new modular electric platform.
This platform, which is part of the so-called "Project Trinity" at Volkswagen and "Artemis" at Audi, should offer much more capabilities than the existing one is able to provide.
