Ile-de-France: a network to monitor the risks associated with pollen in real time

It's an allergy sufferer's nightmare: the birch pollen season starts this Sunday in the northern half of France. A risk that the Ile-de-France region intends to anticipate in the future, with the creation of a “Pollens Alert” network.

This device - patented by the CNRS and the CEA and marketed by Oberon Sciences - is the first of a whole monitoring network that the Region wants to set up from next year.

The objective is to inform Ile-de-France residents as quickly as possible

 when episodes of high concentrations of pollen in the air occur, explained Olivier Blond, environmental health delegate for the IDF Region, during the presentation on March 21 of new measures to promote air quality in the Ile-de-France region .

Ten sensors will thus be installed in two years on cleared sites in order to obtain a representative map of the spread of pollen throughout Ile-de-France...
