The letter from the publishers (publishers) has now been added to the wave of protests by people of culture following the regime revolution. The letter, which was created by the initiative of the protest headquarters of the writers and poets and the Book People's Union, emphasizes the importance of freedom as a defining value of their work, and their intention to continue To act in its light. Culture is made out of freedom, and the freedom of the creator and creation is essential to the existence of creative life and spirit in Israel.
That is why we, publishers in Israel, are committed to maintaining the values embodied in the Declaration of Independence, including freedom, equality, justice and the brotherhood of nations," the letter reads.
"We advocate for the preservation of freedom of expression and creation and the continued existence of Israeli culture as a pluralistic, diverse and rich culture, which does not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, class, sex, gender or sexual orientation. Our publishing houses will continue to serve as homes for free original Hebrew creation and as a fruitful source for enrichment Hebrew literature in contact with other literatures".
