Tires are changed twice a year.
But how much money can the workshop charge for it?
And what services do drivers have to pay extra for?
Not only the clocks are changed twice a year.
The tires on the car also have to be changed depending on the season - unless all-season tires are fitted.
If you don't want to take care of it yourself, you have to go to the workshop.
But how much should a tire change actually cost?
First of all, it depends on whether it is a classic tire change or a wheel change.
The former usually means replacing the tires because they are worn or too old.
However, if you swap between summer and winter tires, this is referred to as a wheel change.
Tire change: How much can a visit to the workshop cost?
The classic tire change is therefore also significantly more expensive.
The new tires have to be mounted on the rim.
Accordingly, several work steps are due in the workshop.
"In addition, the size of the wheels, the installed technology, such as the integrated tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS), and additional services such as balancing have an impact on the costs incurred," explains the insurance group HUK-Coburg.
And the new rubber logically causes costs.
Here, however, you can save some money with complete wheels.

When changing a wheel, on the other hand, only the summer tires are exchanged for winter tires or vice versa.
Drivers get away with it correspondingly cheaper.
On average, between 25 and 45 euros are due, depending on the workshop and region.
If the wheels are balanced and the previous set is stored, the costs will be between 70 and 85 euros.

Tire change: Balancing and storage cost extra
The workshops charge around 50 euros for professional storage over a period of six months.
Balancing costs about 20 euros.
"Most of the time, money can be saved by purchasing several measures," explains HUK-Coburg.
If the old tires have to be disposed of, this often costs extra.
Between two and ten euros are then due per tire.

However, there are also services that are offered at no extra charge when changing tires in the workshop.
For example, a routine tire check before the old tires are removed.
