Will Mimi and Pumba be returned to nature?
It is in any case the fear of a couple from La Ferté-Saint-Aubin in the Loiret, who had collected these two little wild boars at the castle of Ruth, as reported by the daily Le
Parisien
.
An investigation has indeed been opened by the French Office for Biodiversity (OFB), because according to the legislation, the animal is considered a dangerous species.
Cindy and Nicolas Braconnier disagree.
“
These are my babies, I do not envisage them being taken away from us
”, explains the woman to our colleague.
And for good reason, the young boars were raised from an early age by the couple.
A nest of five wild boars
While one of the hunter colleagues had killed a sow that had just given birth on March 31, 2022, Nicolas had gone in search of the nest of the five wild boars.
Without a mother, the couple had therefore decided to raise them.
“
We took turns every two hours to bottle-feed them goat's milk
,” says Cindy.
Only two of the five wild boars will survive.
An electrified enclosure is set up by the couple, who feed the boars with wheat and various vegetables.
"
We have done everything to keep them here, they can't live without us
," Cindy told Le
Parisien
.
The case is in the hands of the public prosecutor of Orleans, who will make his decision on April 11.
