Despite the switch to daylight saving time, Israel Railways did not extend the activity on Fridays. Following Walla's appeal and "Transportation in our own way", the operation of only 4 lines was extended. The rest will wait another 3 weeks

Did the Ministry of Transport promise that Israel Railways would extend its operations on Fridays following the switch to daylight saving time?

So promised.

An inspection by Walla and the passenger and expert association 'Transportation in our way' revealed that the railway added trips on only four lines: the Tel Aviv-Haifa line, the Jerusalem-Herzliya line, the Ashkelon-Herzliya line and the Ashkelon-Benyimina line.

As I recall, about a month ago, it was revealed in Vala that with the transition to daylight saving time, the train cut its hours of operation on Saturday night, but did not extend the operation on Friday, so that many lines stop operating before 2:00 p.m., about five hours before the Sabbath.

The Ministry of Transportation and the railway then promised that they would add the missing hour.

Another inspection revealed that the train repeated a move they made a year ago, with the previous switch to summer time, when they for the first time neglected to add the activity time that was always customary on Fridays in the new time.

However, a year ago the train was still recovering from the corona, the number of passengers was low, and the move went under the radar.

We missed him too.

Max Morozovsky, chairman of Darech Shalono Transport, wrote to the CEO of the railway, Micha Meixner, Ran Shadami, director of the National Authority for Public Transportation, and Elias Mater, director of the senior division of railways at the Ministry of Transportation, that this is a serious injury to passengers.

For example, the last train to Be'er Sheva North leaves from Sevidor station in Tel Aviv on Friday at 12:17 and arrives at 13:45.

The last trains from Haifa Central Station to Nahariya and Beit Leshan depart around a quarter to 14:00 and arrive at their destinations before 14:30.

The last train from Tel Aviv to Modi'in leaves Savidor at 1:47 p.m. and arrives at its destination at 2:29 p.m. All this while most bus lines stop operating between 4:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. during summer time

. "This is a blatant disrespect for the passengers and makes the train irrelevant to many passengers who use Fridays for shopping, recreation, leisure activities, family visits and the return of soldiers from their base to their homes," noted Morozovsky. The Ministry of Transportation referred us to the Israel Railways

. May.

We will continue to follow.
