Lior Dayan, a family member of Yonatan Gefen who passed away last night at the age of 76, revealed this morning (Thursday) on "Holam Hakob" with Geola Even (Network 13) a letter that Yonatan wrote to him in the last few days in which he told him that he had no point in writing anymore.

"The days are empty, all my life I woke up to write and now when I don't write - I have nothing to get up for," Dayan quoted from Gefen's letter.

"It's not that I don't have anything to write about, I just don't have that need. As a poet and a satirist I still recognize all the injustices around me and it's important for me to make an angry voice. I started writing and performing because I felt and completely identified with Andersen's boy in 'The King's New Clothes' who cried out. The king is naked' and now that I am an old boy, the king is still naked but where did my cry go?"

Later, Dayan commented on the fact that the news broadcast on Channel 14 chose not to address Gefen's death: "The channel broadcasts an alternative reality, it's a shame and a disgrace. It's like removing Ariel Zilber, with his extreme right-wing views. Do you really think that some publication in the State of Israel would be able to ignore it if it happened? And God forbid something happened to Ariel Zilber? The alternative reality they are producing is a repulsive and despicable reality and Yonatan was the first to say that it is dangerous, because it is an alternative reality that pulls out the roots. I don't want to think what Yonatan would say if he heard about such a thing. It is simply a shame and disgrace."
