The musician David Broza, Yonatan Gefen's old partner who was buried today in Hillel, told Walla! Culture about working over the years with Geffen

In the video: "Good night father": saying goodbye to Jonathan Gefen (Yotam Ronen)

"Yonathan trusted my interpretation a lot, and we built 45 years of cooperation on that" - that's what musician David Broza told Walla today (Friday)!

Tarbut at the end of the funeral of his old friend and partner Yonatan Gefen, who passed away the other day at the age of 76. "Yonatan trusted me and also knew how to warn me if he felt I didn't understand what he was writing. I obeyed him very much. He read a lot, learned a lot from foreign writers, mostly in English and translations , always knew how to quote numbers. He made me rich. And now I won't have anyone to call and ask or receive an interjection from 'You're wasting your time, what are you doing, go away'. He had such barks. So now I'll do it alone." .

What do you remember about the last conversations between you?

"We had plans. He was about to publish a book, and I said I would take him to Spain now because he was feeling better. At first he did not feel so well, but like any 75-year-old person. He underwent tests and they found nothing, there was a feeling that he was fit and had He's got great energy. So we said we'd go to Spain. He loved Madrid so much. The new book he was going to publish, and it's coming out now, is called 'You Were a Wonderful Audience.' He could have said that a thousand times. It never even occurred to me that this might be the book the last one".

Yonatan asked you to sing "If Death Comes" on his grave already decades ago, and today you answered his request.

"It's a song we translated for the second album, after 'The Woman I'm With,' he said, 'This, you know when to use it.' Dressing, before we went on stage: 'Do you remember what you are going to sing to me?'. I said to him, 'Yonathan, and what if I die first?'. He told me, 'I will take care of it.' . He didn't plan to be the one to sing it to me. And here, I fulfilled his order, his wish, and I am very happy that I got to pay him my last respects and be with the family that I love and cherish so much."

What is the biggest thing you learned from Jonathan?

"Work hard. Don't stop. He was diligent. He told me, 'You don't stop performing and you don't stop releasing albums,' and I told him, 'You don't stop writing, and you don't stop giving people songs.' It wasn't that he was obsessed. It was the therapy His personality, his occupation. He loved it, he also loved being in his garden. Yes, a vine sat under our vine, and he scribbled with his pen and fertilized us with his thoughts, which were much bigger than the life he lived. He lived very modestly, very small. He always made a lot of noise, but he was one of the humblest I've ever known. We all take comfort in the fact that we love Jonathan, in the fact that he gave us so much, and we will continue to read him and enjoy him."
